In this update we have included several user-requested enhancements to the codec that improve the quality of the viewing experience. In this update we have included several user-requested enhancements to the codec that improve the quality of the viewing experience. The encoder now supports common NTSC and PAL pixel aspect ratios so you can keep the full resolution of your source video and the DirectShow decoder will automatically use your video card to adjust the picture dimensions during playback. The DirectShow decoder also now supports de-interlacing, either in software or accelerated by your video card. When using this feature, you no longer see jagged edges and horizontal lines during motion sequences in interlaced content and when the hardware overlay is enabled you can see silky smooth motion at 60 fields per second, which is perfect for all of your 1080i video and DV footage! Other enhancements include support for qMobile and Mobile profile encoding to help you take your DivX content with you anywhere and a 10% performance improvement in the decoder, permitting either lower CPU use during playback or better quality deblocking. Once you are done creating your amazing new DivX video try publishing it to Stage6, our new video community website. Stage6 offers free hosting for high quality DivX video files and allows visitors to watch them live inside their web browser using the DivX Web Player, now included as standard in the DivX for Windows and DivX for Mac bundles. Publishers can see ratings and comments from their viewers, create their own content channels and, in the future, will even be able to earn money from the videos they publish. New in this version +=========================- * Support for non-square pixel aspect ratios The DivX Codec now allows you to keep the original pixel aspect ratio of your source video, specifying the appropriate aspect when encoding. This allows you to maintain greater resolution and thus improve picture quality during playback, especially when watching videos at full-screen. The DivX decoder for DirectShow will automatically instruct your video card to use the correct aspect during playback when the option to "Use advanced hardware overlay" is enabled and set to "Original" aspect in the Decoder Configuration Utility (see the DivX programs group in your Start menu). This is now the default setting after installation. * Support for de-interlacing during playback The DivX decoder for DirectShow can now de-interlace video during playback. This means that when you play an interlaced video clip you will no longer see jagged edges around objects or horizontal lines running across the picture during playback. Two de-interlacing methods are available: 1) When de-interlacing is enabled but the advanced hardware overlay is disabled, de-interlacing will be performed in software and the frame rate will remain unchanged. For example, if the DivX video is 30 frames/60 fields per second, then you will see 30 de-interlaced frames per second. 2) When de-interlacing and the advanced hardware overlay are both enabled, de-interlacing will be performed by your video hardware and the frame rate will be doubled. For example, if the DivX video is 30 frames/60 fields per second, then you will see 60 de-interlaced frames per second. De-interlaceing is enabled by default after installation. * Improved decoder performance The DivX decoder is over 10% faster, allowing for either lower CPU use or better deblocking during playback. * Support for qMobile profile This encoding profile is designed for certified mobile devices and portable media players that support resolutions of up to 176 x 144 at 15fps. * Support for Mobile profile This encoding profile is designed for certified mobile devices and portable media players that support resolutions of up to 320 x 240 at 30fps. | 3.
